Kenyatta University recently hosted the “Eco Empower” event that took place on March 21, 2025, at Kenyatta University’s ILCC Hall in the Confucius Institute building. The event was a collaborative initiative between AIESEC in Kenyatta University, KU UNESCO, and Kenya Power. It brought together students, sustainability advocates, and entrepreneurs to engage in dialogue around innovative and practical solutions for environmental resilience. The theme of the event was “Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Tomorrow.”
The event featured a keynote address by Aaron Ogunde, Founder and CEO of Jiji Health, who emphasized the importance of consistency in building talent and the need for young entrepreneurs to focus on sustainability. He stated, “Consistency builds talent. Invest in your brand and commit to sustainability — that is the foundation of true impact.”
A panel discussion included professionals such as Bryan Micheni from Kenya Power, who highlighted the company’s initiatives in environmental, social, and governance practices. The forum attracted individuals from organizations like Solarino Co. Ltd., Pioneer International University, and Ustawi Africa, with discussions on innovative entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and youth leadership in policy advocacy.
Afternoon breakout sessions focused on “Ecopreneurship and Technology for a Green Tomorrow,” providing participants with opportunities to brainstorm innovative solutions and establish connections for future sustainable initiatives.
The summit was supported by various partners, including GIZ Kenya, Greencoin Afrominds Group, DTE Consultancy, Ustawi Research Institute, KU Green Education Hub, Pioneer International University, and the UNESCO Youth Forum Kenya.
