Nairobi, Kenya –On November 29, 2024, Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) held a remarkable graduation ceremony that marked the culmination of years of hard work for its Class of 2024. With the theme “Riding on Technology, Inspiring Innovation,” the event underscored MMU’s commitment to advancing technological excellence and fostering innovation in Kenya.
The ceremony brought together a total of 631 graduates from four faculties. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology honored 87 graduates in disciplines such as Communication and Multimedia Engineering, Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
The Faculty of Science and Technology celebrated 150 graduates, highlighting achievements in fields like Instrumentation and Control, Renewable Energy, and Applied Optics and Lasers.. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Business and Economics, the largest faculty, conferred degrees to 308 graduates in programs like Actuarial Science, Procurement and Logistics Management, and Economics, preparing them to address complex global economic challenges. The Faculty of Computer and Information Technology graduated 86 students.
The ceremony featured a keynote address by Dr. Margaret Ndung’u, CS ICT & The Digital Economy, who emphasized the role of universities in driving societal transformation through research and innovation. “We challenge you to be innovative. At the ministry, we are ready to collaborate with you,” she remarked, urging graduates to leverage their skills for societal impact. Dr. Ndung’u also highlighted the pivotal role of universities in advancing ICT through research to ensure technology solutions are inclusive and scalable.
Prof. Rosebella Maranga who was inaugurated as the second Vice Chancellor of Multimedia university during the Ceremony; emphasized the need to unite around a shared vision to make MMU a global leader in higher education. She also pledged to serve with integrity, transparency and dedication. Always prioritising the welfare of students, staff and the broader community.
