Nyeri, Kenya – Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT) held its 17th Graduation Ceremony today, a momentous occasion that celebrated the academic achievements of around 1,292 graduates from various disciplines. The event was themed “Innovation for National Transformation,”.
The event, presided over by Chancellor General (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Waweru Karangi, included conferment of degrees and awarding of diplomas across various disciplines. Over the years, DeKUT has established itself as a premier technological university, and this year’s ceremony upheld that legacy with graduates poised to contribute to national and global development.
The 17th Graduation Ceremony of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology showcased graduates from a wide array of academic programs. Notable courses included Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology, which collectively accounted for a significant portion of the bachelor’s and master’s degree recipients. Other fields like Nursing, Business Administration, and Geospatial Information Systems. Additionally, diplomas and certificates in areas such as Building Technology, Fashion Design, and Electrical Engineering were conferred emphasizing the institution’s dedication to equipping students with practical, industry-relevant skills.
From Ph.D. holders in cutting-edge fields such as Mechanical Engineering and Food Science to bachelor’s and diploma graduates, the ceremony showcased the university’s diverse academic offerings. A notable highlight was the Chancellor’s address emphasizing values of integrity, innovation, and excellence, inspiring graduates to embrace the challenges ahead.
In his address, Chancellor General (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Waweru Karangi urged the graduates to embody the university’s values of innovation, integrity, and excellence. “As you step into the professional world, let the knowledge and skills acquired here serve as the foundation for transformative change in our society,” he said.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Eng. Peter N. Muchiri lauded the graduates for their perseverance and resilience, especially in navigating the challenges of modern education. He highlighted the university’s strides in technological research and its role in addressing national and global challenges.
