Nairobi-Kenya, On Friday, September 20, 2024, the University of Nairobi, hosted its 71st graduation ceremony at the Chancellor’s Court. The event, themed “Transforming Society with Adaptive and Innovative Graduates,” underscored the institution’s ongoing commitment to shaping the future through education. With over 4100 students receiving their degrees and diplomas, the ceremony stood as a testament to the university’s role in nurturing leaders and innovators across a wide range of disciplines.
The event celebrated graduates from various faculties, including Agriculture, Health Sciences, Engineering, Law, and Business and Management Science. Each faculty presented its candidates, conferring degrees ranging from Bachelor’s to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), reflecting the university’s diverse academic offerings and research contributions.
The graduates included 3,432 recipients of Bachelor’s degrees, 525 Master’s graduates, 117 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduates, 95 diploma holders, 9 recipients of postgraduate diplomas, and 8 fellowships.
In his keynote speech, Chancellor Prof. Patrick Verkooijen briefly touched on the historical significance of the university and reminded the graduates of their potential to become future leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

In his congratulatory message, Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migosi acknowledged the hard work, resilience, and determination of the graduating class. “This milestone has been made possible because of your hard work, resilience, and determination,” he said, commending not only the graduates but also their parents, guardians, and university staff. Migosi also encouraged the graduates to carry with them values of integrity, perseverance, and service to their communities as they move forward in their careers or further studies. “The totality of these are the tools that you will need to positively impact our country and the world as a whole,” he added.
